About
Lime can be found rarely on the ground, but once the Quarrying skill learned has been learned, with Any Shovel equipped you can Dig Lime Boulders from a Lime Pit. With Any Axe or Any Pickaxe equipped right-click a Lime Boulder and select "Chip" to receive Lime. Alternatively you may load any Boulder into a Stamp Mill, or blow it up with a Lit Boomstick. When Chipping any Boulder there is a chance to receive a Sterling Geode or Whetstone at the same Purity as the Boulder, or rarely an Arcane Amethyst during a Blood Moon. Lime counts as Any Stone in recipes.
Lime Boulders come in variable sizes, with the bigger Lime Boulders giving more Lime when Chipped, ranging from 5 up to 100. From left to right, 100, 25, 15, 10 and 5 pieces.
The higher your Mines & Mountains Proficiency the better the chance of Digging up bigger Lime Boulders. Learning Ambitious Excavation will help you Dig out Boulders faster and increases the chance to get larger Lime Boulders from Lime Pits. Rarely you will Dig up a very small Lime Boulder. Chipping this Lime Boulder will give you a single Little Limestone. When used in place of Lime in a Ore Smelter, a Little Limestone will increase the number of Bar of Pig Iron, Bar of Copper, or Silver Bars you will receive. However, due to it's rarity, it's best to save them for Smelting Silver Bars.
Uses
Lime has a wide amount of uses in the New World. Selecting a Lime and right-clicking it on a Vessel of Potable Water will make Milk of Lime, used in making Clay or Limed Hides. Lime is also added to Ore Smelter when producing Metal Bars.
Lime counts as a Any Stone in recipes. Can be stored a Stockbin.
