Clay Pit
About
Clay Pits are scattered throughout the New World and range and size and shape, and can be distinguished from similar looking biomes by its unique swirling texture. Generally, Clay Pits cannot be built on or Paved over. 
Digging on Clay Pits will produce 
Clay, and uncommonly, a 
Misshapen Lump of Clay. When Digging, Clay will appear in your Inventory and the terrain will lower slightly. If the terrain is too step you will be unable to Dig further, making it possible to exhaust a Clay Pit of Clay. Creatures are not typically found on Clay Pits, although a Creature may wonder onto one from time to time.
Forageables
Clay Beaches
Clay Beaches are very similar to Clay Pit}, but whose shape is dictated by the Lakes or Pond it surrounds. For this reason, Clay Beaches are rarely suitable for large scale Clay gathering.
Related Terrain Types
Clay Beaches are a type of 
Beaches and are always found bordering 
Bodies of Water. 
Lime Pits and 
Quarrys can be Dug for resources similar to Clay Pits.
