Granite Boulders and 
Stone Boulders are found scattered across the surface of the New World. These can be Chipped to receive 
Stone and 
Granite. Lifting Boulders found on the surface may reveal 
Beetles, 
Grubs, or rarely, a 
Creepy Centipede, hidden beneath them. Once the Quarrying Skill has be learned you can 
Dig Stone Boulders from a 
Quarry or 
Mountain. With the Granite Excavation Skill learned there is a chance to get a Granite Boulders when Digging on Quarries. This chance is based off your Mines & Mountains Proficiency.
With the Quarrying Skill learned 
Lime Pits can be Dug for 
Lime Boulders. Lime Boulders Dug from a Lime Pit come in variable sizes, with the bigger Lime Boulders giving more 
Lime when Chipped, ranging from 100 to 5. From left to right, 100, 25, 15, 10 and 5 pieces. The higher your Mines & Mountains Proficiency the better the chance of Digging up bigger Lime Boulders.
Rarely you will Dig up a very small Lime Boulder. Chipping this Lime Boulder will give you a single 
Little Limestone. When used in place of Lime in a 
Ore Smelter, a Little Limestone will increase the number of 
Bar of Pig Iron, 
Bar of Copper, and 
Silver Bars you will receive. However, due to it's rarity, it's best to save them for Smelting Silver Bars.
Rarely instead of the appropriate Stone, you will receive a 
Whetstone instead. This Whetstones will be at 0% Purity so they are best used as an Inspirational. An 
Arcane Amethyst is rarely obtained when Chipping Boulders during a Bloodmoon.
A 
Boomstick can be used to blow up a Boulder. To blow up a Boulder select your Boomstick from your inventory and right-click it on a source of Fire, such as a lit 
Torch or 
Fireplace. This will turn your Boomstick into a 
Lit Boomstick. You must now quickly select your Lit Boomstick and right-click it onto the Boulder you wish to blow up. Blowing up a Boulder will scatter it's Stones in a short radius around where the Boulder was. You can then pick them up if you wish to save them.

With the Mining Skill learned and 
Any Pickaxe equipped, clicking the 
Mine action will change your cursor into a pickaxe, which can then be right-clicked on any wall within a 
Mine Entrance to begin Mining. The Phlegm this will drain is dependent on what Mine level you are on and can be lowered by increasing your Mining Artifact Bonus. Chipping an Ore Boulder will give you the appropriate 
Any Ore or 
Rubble.
