In-Game Text

"One that would have the fruit must climb the tree."

- Thomas Fuller, 1608 - 1661

Trees. Apex of plantlife, lording over the world in a continuum of balance and growth. Learning Fruit Orchards readies the Pilgrim with the necessary patience and teachings to cultivate seasonal fruit trees, that they might enjoy the boughs' bounties!

About

Fruit Trees can be grown with by Planting the appropriate Fruit in a Gardening Pot icon.png Gardening Pot with the Fruit Orchards Skill. When Planted Cuttings sometimes die and instead of a Tree you will receive a single Branch icon.png Branch. The higher your Flora & Fauna icon.png Flora & Fauna Proficiency, the less likely that it to happen. Planting in Gardening Pots lowers Insanity. To Plant a Tree which has sprouted in a Gardening Pot, Lift icon.png Lift the Pot then right-click the ground and select Plant.

Fruit Trees will only Blossom during an Everbloom. Blossoming Trees will only Fruit if they have been Pollinated by either Bee Skep icon.png Bee Skep or Butterfly Conservatory icon.png Butterfly Conservatory. The Purity of a Fruit Tree slowly moves towards the Purity of the Bee Skep which Pollinates it.

Pollination

Butterfly Conservatory

A Butterfly Conservatory icon.png Butterfly Conservatory, when Any Butterfly icon.png Any Butterflys are placed inside, will pollinate nearby Fruit Trees during an Everbloom. A Butterfly Conservatory has a longer range than a Bee Skep icon.png Bee Skep but cannot transfer Purity onto the Fruit Trees so ultimately a Bee Skep is preferable.

Bee Skep

A working Bee Skep icon.png Bee Skep will pollinate nearby Fruit Trees during an Everbloom. A full Bee Skep is a better pollinator than a full Butterfly Conservatory icon.png Butterfly Conservatory although a Butterfly Conservatory has a longer range. Honeycomb icon.png Honeycomb are received from destroying a working Bee Skep icon.png Bee Skep. Draining a Honeycomb will give .1 liters of Honey icon.png Honey and 1x Beeswax icon.png Beeswax. An empty Vessel, or one already containing Honey must be in your inventory when Draining a Honeycomb icon.png Honeycomb, otherwise the Honey will be lost.

To get your Bee Skep working and producing Honeycomb you must place a Queen Bee icon.png Queen Bee and at least 2x Drone Bee icon.png Drone Bees into the Skep. This will cause your Bee Skep to accumulate Worker Bees. The maximum number of Worker Bees is 60000.

Queen Bees, Drone Bees, Delphic Bee icon.png Delphic Bee, and Royal Jelly icon.png Royal Jelly will occasionally spawn inside your Bee Skep. Having more than 1 Queen Bee, or any Delphic Bees in your Bee Skep will cause your colony to start collapsing. Remove them if you see them. Opening a working Bee Skep will cause you to get stung. The severity of the sting is proportionate to the number of Bees in the Bee Skep; generally around 10-15 Blood damage.

Caution! Checking your Bee Skep too often will annoy the Bees and potentially lead to colony collapse. It is recommended you only check your Bee Skep once a day or every other day.

The Purity of a Fruit Tree slowly moves towards the Purity of the Bee Skep which Pollinates it. The Purity of a Bee Skep is equal to the Purity of the Hay icon.png Hay used in it's construction. Growing high Purity Autumn Grass icon.png Autumn Grass in a Gardening Pot icon.png Gardening Pot and placing it on a Hay Stack icon.png Hay Stack is one of the easiest ways to do this.
