About
A sound is played once you spot an object of an event, making it a bit easier to not miss stumbling on to it.
Idea behind the Events
John Carver:
"There are now dozens of new items in the game related to special events you can find in the wilderness. Finding these strange, wondrous, or sometimes spooky structures and discovering what they mean is something we're going to leave up to you! This mechanic will most likely need a lot of balance and tweaking that will require use on a large-scale vs. our test server environment. As it stands at launch each season a random number of exploration events will be seeded throughout the world. On Popham that number will be closer to 100 and on Providence that number will be closer to 1,000. The hope is that on each turn of the season the Pilgrims will feel an incentive to leave their base and get out exploring."
How many events
John Carver: "We will be launching this patch (1.2) with (5) different exploration events but will be making an effort to push a handful of new ones in subsequent patches."
Where and when they spawn
- Events do not spawn on either a town, pclaim, or the starting town. They appear when the season changes and they will remain on the map until a player has collected the related items.
Known Events
Dead Whale
The whale can be butchered to provide Blubber and Whale Bones.
Frozen Mammoth
Mammoth Flesh and Mammoth Tusk can be collected after using a fire-lighting object on the Mammoth.
Gingerbread House
Found in the Woodland. Provides Candies.
Rainbow
Found in the Marshland. You can Collect Gold from the pot at the end of the rainbow to receive 36 Golden Eggs.
Traveling Merchant
A traveling merchant who frequently herds animals for Darwoth across great distances has mysteriously disappeared, as such small packs of baby animals can be occasionally found in the Autumnal Forest. These will be between 1 and 5 Piglets, Lambs, Kids, or Calfs).
To catch one a Rope or Lasso is required. Make sure the Rope or Lasso is your left hand slot, then Right Click the animal and select Take in Your Hand.
Wishing Well
It looks like an ordinary Well but you can right-click Silver on it. After a small amount of silver (50-100s), you will receive a Whimsical Wish in your inventory. You can right-click it and wish for Wealth, Wisdom or Luck.
Wrecked Caravan
Found in the Grassland. Destroy the wagons to reveal a Barrel filled with either Pepper and Sugar.
Exploration Event Boulders
Obsidian Boulders can be found rarely in the Crag biome. An Obsidian Boulder can be Chipped to receive Obsidian. Select Any Stone in your inventory and right-click it onto a piece of Obsidian to receive Obsidian Fragments or an Obsidian Arrowhead.
Exploration Event Trees
About
Rarely, when exploring the Coniferous Biome you may find an Eagle Tree. With Any Axe equipped Chop down the Eagle Tree to drop the Eagle Nest to the ground. Rooting through the Eagle Nest will give Eagle Eggs and Eagle Feathers. An Eagle Egg can be counts as Any Poultry Egg in recipes and a Template:Eagle Feather counts as Any Feathers in recipes. Chopping down an Eagle Tree will leave a Hollow Log and a Hollow Stump.
Rarely, when exploring the Greenwood Biome you may find a Hangman Tree. With the Larceny skill learned right-click the Hanging Man and select L3wt. This will give you Evidence of Royal Conspiracy. Evidence of Royal Conspiracy can be turned in to His Majesty's Stall for 10x IOUs. L3wting a Hangman is NOT a Crime and therefor will not leave Scents. A Hangman Tree can be Picked for Branches or Chopped to produce a Hollow Log and a Hollow Stump. Seeing a Hanging Man will increase your Insanity, however, seeing the Hangman Tree without the Hanging Man will not.
