Right-clicking on the Judge in [[Providence]] gives you three options. Selecting "View Court Records" allows you to see your Justice Points as well as the Justice Points leaderboard. Selecting "Negotiate Release" no longer works. Selecting "Request Judgement" will change your icon into a gavel. For a fee of 500x {{i|Silver Pieces }} you can click the gavel on any Summonable {{i|Evidence}} in your inventory to Judge that Evidence as Guilty. Additionally you can select {{i|His Majesty's Displeasure}} and right-click it onto the Evidence to have the same effect, this method does not cost any Silver Pieces or even require interaction with the Judge.

In-Game Text

"Noxiae poena par esto."

Marcus Tullius Cicero, 40 B.C.

As a self-rectifying machine, society has grown to enact its own punishments on wrong-doers in a variety of situations. Sanctioned Mortification instructs Pilgrims on the proper method of enacting such social justice by teaching the finer points of public shaming. You will be able to interact with criminals in the stocks now to exact the appropriate amount of punishment.

Stocks

Right-clicking on the Judge in Providence gives you three options. Selecting "View Court Records" allows you to see your Justice Points as well as the Justice Points leaderboard. Selecting "Negotiate Release" no longer works. Selecting "Request Judgement" will change your icon into a gavel. For a fee of 500x Silver Pieces icon.png Silver Pieces you can click the gavel on any Summonable Evidence icon.png Evidence in your Inventory to Judge that Evidence as Guilty. Additionally you can select His Majesty's Displeasure icon.png His Majesty's Displeasure and right-click it onto the Evidence to have the same effect, this method does not cost any Silver Pieces or even require interaction with the Judge.

Once criminal Evidence icon.png Evidence has been Judged to be Guilty, with the Sanctioned Mortification Skill learned, you may select that Evidence and right-click in onto an open Stock and select "Humiliate" to send the Guilty criminal to the Stocks. Being sent to the Stocks will cause you to drop your entire Inventory! Once in the Stocks a criminal will be subject to Insanity, Disease, Whipping, and having Rotten Food thrown at them for up to 24 hours.

WARNING! Any criminal who is Knocked Out while in the Stocks will Permanently Die.

After 24 hours a criminal will be set free, however a criminal can be set free much earlier, after just 2 hours, by purchasing His Majesty's Pardon icon.png His Majesty's Pardon from His Majesty's Stall or a Writ of Habeas Corpus icon.png Writ of Habeas Corpus, and right-clicking it on their Stockade and selecting "Set Free".

Whipping Criminals

With the Sanctioned Mortification Skill learned and a Whip equipped, right-clicking on any of the Stocks which a criminal is locked up in, gives you the option to "Whip" them. Whipping a criminal will deal permanent damage to their Humours. This damage is determined by the Whipper's Justice Score and is increased if the criminal is offline. Whipping damage will not cause a criminal's Humours to drop lower than 5. Whipping a criminal adds 100 Justice Points and getting Whipped adds a small amount of Insanity.

Whip Times per Criminal Notes
Wild Whip icon.png Wild Whip 1 Wears on use.
Executioner's Whip icon.png Executioner's Whip 2 Store bought.
Concord Whip icon.png Concord Whip 3 Concord reward.
Whip of Popham icon.png Whip of Popham 3 Popham reward.
Mr. Sad Paddle icon.png Mr. Sad Paddle Dev only item.

Throwing Food at Criminals

With the Sanctioned Mortification Skill learned and a Tomato icon.png Tomatoes or Rotten Fruit icon.png Rotten Fruit in your Inventory, right-clicking on any of the Stocks which a criminal is locked up in, gives you the option to "Throw Food" at them. Throwing food at a criminal adds to their Full and Fed Up icon.png Full and Fed Up debuff.

Food Full & Fed Up Added Justice Points
Big Red icon.png Big Red 4:00 - 8:00 75
Rotten Fruit icon.png Rotten Fruit 0:20 - 1:00 4
Tomato icon.png Tomato 0:05 - 0:15 1

Infecting Criminals

With the Plague Handling Skill learned, selecting a Deer Tick icon.png Deer Tick and right-clicking it on any of the Stocks which a criminal is locked up in, will give you the option to "Infect." Infecting a criminal will cause them to become Disease icon.png Diseased. Neither a Plague Doctor's Masque icon.png Plague Doctor's Masque nor Berry Juice icon.png Berry Juice will prevent Disease from a Deer Tick. NOTE: While it is possible to add multiple Deer Ticks to the same Criminal only the first Deer Tick will add Disease or award Justice Points.
