With Any Axe or Any Pickaxe equipped right-click a Copper Ore Boulder and select "Chip" to receive up to 20x Rubble. Alternatively you may load any Boulder into a Stamp Mill, or blow it up with a Lit Boomstick. When Chipping any Boulder there is a chance to receive a Whetstone at the same Purity as the Boulder, or rarely an Arcane Amethyst during a Blood Moon.

Can be stored a Stockbin.

Iron ore has silver streaks and copper has orange.

Bar of Copper is smelted from this by putting it into an Ore Smelter. Ore can not be used as a replacement for stone.
