On most biomes, using the Dig action on the ground will drain Phlegm and lower the elevation on the spot where you are Digging. When Digging on biomes that gives Dirt, you will pick up the Dirt and hold it above your head until you select where to drop it. Holding Dirt counts as Lifting and therefore will also drain Phlegm and Yellow Bile. Dropping Dirt on any Dirt producing biomes will increase the elevation on the spot where you dropped the Dirt. Dropping the Dirt in Bodies of Water will cause the Dirt to disappear. Initially, you can only hold 10x clods of Dirt. When you reach capacity, you will not be able to continue Digging. Once you have learned the Labouring Skill, your capacity increases to 15x Dirt and additionally the Phlegm drain while Digging is reduced.
How to Make Clay
- Fill a Vessel with Potable Water.
- Select a Lime and right-click it on your Vessel of Potable Water to make Milk of Lime.
- Select your Milk of Lime and right-click it on your Clay Trough. A Clay Trough can hold 10x Buckets (100 Liters) of Milk of Lime.
- With Any Shovel equipped, Dig the ground to get Dirt, which you will hold over your head. You can carry up to 15x clumps of Dirt.
- With the Dirt over your head right-click the Clay Trough to dump in the Dirt. This will produce 1x Clay for each clump of Dirt you drop in. Each clump of Dirt will consume .5 Liters of Milk of Lime, so a full Clay Trough can produce 200x Clay before needing to be re-filled.
Biome
Digging on any Dirt producing biome, or dropping Dirt on one, will convert that tile to the Dirt biome. Dirt is a a full biome, and therefore will not spawn any Foregables or Creatures. However, with enough activity in the area a Dirt biome will slowly turn into adjacent biomes.
