== Instructions ==

''– Leviticus 11:9, King James' Bible''
# Construct a [[Fishing#Equipment|fishing rod and lure]].

# Equip the fishing rod (requires both hands free) and lure (left-click to pick it up then right-click the fishing rod).

# Click the {{i|Fish}} action under the {{i|Adventure}} menu, the cursor will change to a crucifix.

# Click on a body of water.

After a short while a fish may bite. After this, a window will pop up every few seconds presenting you with three random options. One option will cause the fish to be reeled in, one will do nothing, and one will let the fish pull away. The options themselves can be quite random, but their effect will be consistent for each type of fish ([http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?607420-Game-Development-Hooked-on-a-Feeling&p=13815083&viewfull=1#post13815083 source]).

Your character's stance indicates your advantage over the fish. The further back you are leaning the closer you are to successfully catching the fish.

Robo: If you understand card-counting it is similar; you will get a list of options in which any of the options can be +1, +0, -1.

The +1 choices are persistent so for example "Resist", "Reel in", and "Pull high" are +1 when the fish is a Angel-Winged Seabass.

'''Also:'''

* Caught fish inherit the same purity as the water from which they came.

* Lures can be removed from rods by right-clicking the rod.

=== Equipment Wear ===

Fishing rods and lures are damaged with use, and this is represented as 'wear' when hovering over their icons. Equipment is damaged over time, whether a fish is hooked or not. When struggling with a fish, wear seems to tick but the effect of the wear seems to wait until you catch/lose the fish.  This is apparent as your equipment will not break during the process, but often immediately after.

The amount of wear per tick is determined by the type of equipment and your [[Frontier & Wilderness]] proficiency. ([http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?607420-Game-Development-Hooked-on-a-Feeling&p=13815083&viewfull=1#post13815083 source]).

"These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat."

– Leviticus 11:9, King James' Bible

The far flung oceans across which you came hold, parallel to the rivers and lakes of this strange and wondrous land, a teeming multitude of life. Fishing allows you to fish, and to craft a primitive fishing pole.

A fisherman and his catch

About

The prize for registering a fish in the Leaderboard is a Crimson Carp icon.png Crimson Carp.

How to Fish

  1. Select Any Bait icon.png Any Bait and right-click it onto Any Casting Rod icon.png Any Casting Rod. Lures can later be removed by right-clicking the Rod.
  2. Equip your now baited Rod to you right hand slot.
  3. Select Fish icon.png Fish action, this will cause the cursor to change.
  4. Click on any Body of Water. Casting a Rod removes a small amount of Insanity.
  5. If Any Fish icon.png Any Fish bites it will be transferred automatically to your Inventory. There is a chance nothing bites. Each time you cast it adds wear to both your Lure and your Rod. When the wear reaches 100% it will break. Wear is reduced by your Flora & Fauna icon.png Flora & Fauna Proficiency.

Although still being tested, the strongest factors for catching a particular Fish seem to be whether it is Salt or Fresh Water and individual water tile being Fished from. Bait has a small influence and Rod does not seem to have any.

Casting Rods

Equipping a Any Bait icon.png Any Bait to Any Casting Rod icon.png Any Casting Rod allows you to use the Fish icon.png Fish action. The more durable the Rod, and the higher your Flora & Fauna icon.png Flora & Fauna Proficiency, the slower it will wear and the longer it will last before breaking. At 100% wear your Rod will be break, this will cause Bait still attached to be lost.

Rod Durability Notes
Makeshift Fishing Rod icon.png Makeshift Fishing Rod Low
Fishing Pole icon.png Fishing Pole Medium
Fishmaster 1600 icon.png Fishmaster 1600 High Legacy

Fish Purity

Any Fish icon.png Any Fish caught will take their Purity directly from the Bait used to catch it. A Fish Hook icon.png Fish Hook takes on the Purity of the Bar of Any Metal icon.png Bar of Any Metal used in its construction. This Purity is passed onto Any Lure which is made from it. A Common Earthworm icon.png Common Earthworm receives its Purity from Worm Purity and a Grub icon.png Grub's purity comes from Bug Purity.
