==About==

An Artifact is an item which can be attached to one of the Slots in [[Clothing]] to provide a bonus to a particular action.  The purpose of clothing is to hold artifacts.

Each artifact has an number of [[Proficiencies]] that it is associated with.  The higher your skills are in that proficiency, the easier it will be to slot the Artifact into clothing based on the Artifact's difficulty.  An artifact has a range of difficulty associated with it.  Lower numbers are easier to slot.

Clothing also has a difficulty associated with it.  Default difficulty is 25.  If you craft clothing, the higher your Thread & Needle proficiency is, the better chance you have of getting a number lower than 25, and the lower that number will be.  The difficulty can be reduced all the way to 0 for a very proficient and lucky player.

*More powerful artifacts tend to have higher difficulties.

*More valuable clothing has more slots.

The mechanics of slotting clothing have changed recently, but the formula seems to be something like this:  Initial odds are taken off the artifact.  So, if your artifact has 40 to 20 difficulty, slotting it into 0 difficulty clothing will result in a chance of success of 60 to 80%, depending on your proficiency.  If your proficiencies are excellent and you have an 80% chance with 0 difficulty clothing, then you will have a 60% chance with difficulty 25 clothing because it removes 25% of your chance, or a success chance of 72% with difficulty 10 clothing because it removes 10% of your chance.
