Brazier mechanics have recently changed, so information on the page is not complete.

Brazier damage is thought to have a base of ? Black Bile per shot, with modifiers that increase and/or randomize it; This damage is reduced when within the range of other Blazing Braziers. Individual braziers do considerably less damage but will critical hit far more often.

It takes 40 Coal to max the Ammo of a Brazier. One piece of coal adds 25 Ammo, while an Unscathed Wood adds 100.

Take note that you do not need to "light" a blazing brazier, it will automatically ignite when it detects a crime near it, as long as it has coal. Crimes of vandalism immediately awaken braziers (and Torchposts). Light duration, when activated, stays on for exactly 5 minutes after a crime then turns off. Uses far less than 1 piece of coal. The effective range was confirmed by devs to be 120 pixels, which makes 11 tiles (11 pixels per tile).

To destroy a brazier you first need to use a full bucket of water on it. Then wait until it is destroyed by decay. To repair the damage done by the water you only need 1 Bar of Pig Iron;

Braziers have purity which can be increased by Unscathed Wood even if the brazier is full. The max "step" by which you can increase purity is probably 2% like the purity of Gardening Pots.

About

Blazing Brazier icon.png Blazing Brazier are Aggressive Defense Structures with a range of 11x tiles and an Ammo Capacity of 1000, which can be filled selecting Charcoal icon.png Charcoal (25 Ammo) or Unscathed Wood icon.png Unscathed Wood (100 Ammo) and right-clicking it on your Blazing Brazier. A Blazing Brazier will stop firing if it runs out of Ammo, but can be deactivated early by selecting a Vessel of Potable Water icon.png Potable Water and right-clicking in on the Blazing Brazier 2x times.

Aggressive Defense Structures

Aggressive Defense Structures are Structures that require Fuel and are activated to fire on Criminals as soon as a Crime! icon.png Crime! is committed on Protected land within their range. Aggressive Defense light and fire automatically as long as they have ammo.

Baby Brazier icon.png Baby Brazier 6 tiles Fast Moderate Charcoal icon.png Charcoal and Unscathed Wood icon.png Unscathed Wood 200 100% Damage???

Aggressive Defense Damage

All Aggressive Defense Structures do a base amount of Black Bile which scales negatively with the more of the SAME Aggressive Defense Structures which are within its range. For instance this means the more Blazing Brazier which overlap in range, the less Black Bile damage each will do per shot. This however, is largely moot, as the real power of Aggressive Defenses is their ability to deal Critical Damage. For each shot there is a 5-10% chance the shot will Critically Hit, which will deal a high % of Black Bile damage and a smaller % of Blood damage based on the Criminal's remaining Humours. Crit Chance for Braziers can be increased by raising your Brazier's Purity. Overall what this means is that because the current goal of Aggressive Defense is Critical Damage spam, having MORE Aggressive Defenses Structures is almost always a better Defense than having just a few.

Brazier Purity

When Collecting Charcoal icon.png Charcoal from a Coal Clamp icon.png Coal Clamp there is a chance to receive an Unscathed Wood icon.png Unscathed Wood instead with a Purity equal to the average of all the Woodblock icon.png Woodblocks used in the Coal Clamp's construction. Woodblock Purity is influenced by Gardening Purity. The Purity of a Baby Brazier icon.png Baby Brazier and Blazing Brazier icon.png Blazing Brazier always starts a Purity of 0%, but each time an Unscathed Wood is added with a Purity higher than your Brazier, that Brazier gains 10% of the difference. An Unscathed Wood can be added even if the Brazier is full. The Purer your Brazier is the higher the chance of your Brazier dealing Critical Damage.
