In-Game Text

"The clever combatant imposes his will on the enemy, but does not allow the enemy's will to be imposed on him."

– Sun Tzu

Polearms provide the luxury of distance and reach in combat. A lone pilgrim against a gang of vandals is far better equipped with a polearm as his side than any other weapon.

Polearms

With the Skill Polearms learned and a Polearm Equipped in both your hands, a pilgrim can use the Cleave icon.png Cleave combat move. Cleave is an Impact Attack which is best used when fighting more than one opponent, as this move has good damage a large radius that will hit anything around you. Using Cleave consumes Yellow Bile.

Cleave's damage is based on your Artifact Bonus, the purity of your Halbard and your Max Yellow Bile as opposed to current Yellow Bile, common with most attacks ==Weapon Purity==

Craftable metal Weapons such as Halberd icon.png Halberds and Spanish Sabre icon.png Spanish Sabres initially take their Purity from the Wrought Iron Bar icon.png Wrought Iron Bars used in their construction but the Purity of all Polearms and Sword can be modified by selecting a Whetstone icon.png Whetstone and right-clicking it on the Weapon and selecting "Sharpen". This will consume the Whetstone and transfer its Purity onto the Weapon. Purity increases the amount of damage done by the Weapon by up to 10% at 100% Purity. Artifacts which increase Impact Defense or Common Combat Defense will reduce the damage you take from a Cleave. Artifacts which increase Impact Power or Common Combat Power increase the amount of damage Cleave does.
