In-Game Text"The clever combatant imposes his will on the enemy, but does not allow the enemy's will to be imposed on him." – Sun Tzu Polearms provide the luxury of distance and reach in combat. A lone pilgrim against a gang of vandals is far better equipped with a polearm as his side than any other weapon. PolearmsWith the Skill Polearms learned and a Polearm Equipped in both your hands, a pilgrim can use the Cleave combat move. Cleave is an Impact Attack which is best used when fighting more than one opponent, as this move has good damage a large radius that will hit anything around you. Using Cleave consumes Yellow Bile.
Craftable metal Weapons such as Halberds and Spanish Sabres initially take their Purity from the Wrought Iron Bars used in their construction but the Purity of all Polearms and Sword can be modified by selecting a Whetstone and right-clicking it on the Weapon and selecting "Sharpen". This will consume the Whetstone and transfer its Purity onto the Weapon. Purity increases the amount of damage done by the Weapon by up to 10% at 100% Purity. Artifacts which increase Impact Defense or Common Combat Defense will reduce the damage you take from a Cleave. Artifacts which increase Impact Power or Common Combat Power increase the amount of damage Cleave does.
