Raising Turkeys
Turkey Gobblers and Turkey Hens can be caught in the wild or raised from a Turkey Poult while Fertile Turkey Hens are only found in the wild. In the wild all Turkeys look the same - you won't see which type it is until you pick up a Knocked Out Turkey. To raise Domesticated Turkeys at least one Turkey Gobbler must be present in your Turkey Coop for your Turkey Hens to lay Turkey Eggs. Eggs appear in the space beneath the Hens. If that spot is occupied, the Hen will not lay an Egg. Turkey Droppings appear in the bottom left spot and work their way across before moving up the next row, which means that Hens on the the very bottom row will often be unable to lay Eggs because the Turkey Droppings will block the space beneath them. An untouched Turkey Egg will hatch into a Turkey Poult after about 48 hours. NOTE: Moving a Turkey Egg may never hatch.
Food Supply
Turkeys housed in a Turkey Coop must be fed, otherwise they will stave. To fill a Turkey Coop with food, select any organic material and right-click on the Turkey Coop. The Turkey Coop has a 200 point fill bar which can be viewed when right-clicking a Turkey Coop. Different foods contribute different amounts to it's fill bar with a Concordat of Worms being Turkey's favorite food, filling the bar completely. If the fill bar reaches 0 your Turkeys will quickly begin to starve to death.
Turkey Purity
Turkey Purity is based on a combination of the average Purity of all Turkeys inside it and the Purity of the Turkey Coop itself, and chance. Each time a Turkey Egg is lain with a higher Purity than the Turkey Coop, the Purity of the entire Turkey Coop will increase by up to .10%. A Turkey will have the Purity of the Turkey Egg it was hatched from. That Purity will be passed onto the products which come from that Turkey. Wild-caught Turkeys will always have a Purity of 0% which will generally negatively affect the average Purity of the Turkey's inside a Turkey Coop.
Protecting Your Turkeys During a Break
Turkeys quickly starve to death when left alone for extended periods of time. While Wild Turkeys can be easily replaced Fertile Turkey Hens, Golden Gooses, and high Purity Domesticated Turkeys are significantly harder. One method for prolonging the life-span of your Turkeys when taking a break is to build each Turkey it's own Turkey Coop and fill it completely with food. As only one Turkey will be eating from that food supply it should last significantly longer.
Destroying a Turkey Coop
A Turkey Coop can't be Destroyed by normal means, but requires the use of Smelling Salts. To Destroy a Turkey Coop select Smelling Salts from your inventory and right-click on the Turkey Coop. You will need enough to first lower the Turkey Coop's Purity to 0, after that, each subsequent Smelling Salt added will deal damage. Each Smelling Salt reduces the purity by 0.50 or deals 20% of damage.
Building Structures
Selecting a structure from the build menu or its sub-menus will place a Building Blueprint Sign at the position of the cursor and then clicking a valid building location on the ground will place the sign and open a window prompting the player to deposit the necessary materials and build the structure.
Each material is followed by a series of three numbers.
- The first indicates how many of that resource are needed but have not been deposited.
- The second number indicates how many of that resource have been deposited but have not been built into the structure.
- The third number indicates how many of that resource have been built into the structure.
Players can take their time building structures by depositing and committing resources to the build sign by clicking the "build" button. The character will build as much of the structure as they can with the available resources. They can return with more resources in the future.
Note that if no resources are deposited, the build sign will disappear when the player walks away. If resources are deposited, but the player hasn't built them into the structure, the uncommitted resources will slowly disappear over time. This is to combat players using build signs as cheap and overpowered storage containers they can deposit and retrieve resources from.
