Performing the Mine action on a cracked wall in a iron mine will dig away that cave wall section and yield an Iron Ore Boulder.

A Pickaxe or Shovel is required to mine a wall.
The Iron Ore Boulder can be moved and chipped like any other boulder.
Right clicking it to chip the boulder yield Iron Ore from it. You get 10 Ore per Boulder.
Place this ore in an Ore Smelter to get iron.
