With the Forestry Skill learned, and  Any Axe equipped, right-clicking an  Oak Tree selecting "Strike Cutting" will give you an  Oak Cutting. Each Oak Tree can produce only 2x Oak Cuttings. An Oak Cutting can be Planted in a  Gardening Pot to grow an Oak Tree. When Planted  Cuttings will sometimes fail and instead become a single  Branch. The higher your  Flora & Fauna Proficiency, the less likely this is to happen. Planting in Gardening Pots lowers Insanity.
