In-Game Text"And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." – Matthew 16:19, King James' Bible The gift of a key to one's Homestead, Chest or House is one of most solemn trusts that can be bestowed upon a friend. Locksmithing gives you the ability to craft a simple bolt-lock, which can be installed on gates, doors, chests and the like to prevent it from being opened by outsiders, and also allows you to make new copies of keys for kith and kin. Locks and KeysIn order to use any Key, it must be Attuned to a specific Lock AND a specific person. Keys, once attuned, are personal and can only be used by one pilgrim, meaning that stolen Keys or found Keys cannot be used. Keys are automatically Attuned to their creator when they are made. Hovering over any Key will show the Key's name. If the name of the Key is Green it is usable by you; if it's Red it is not usable by you. Right-clicking on any Key allows you to rename it. Up to 8x Keys can be stored in a Keyring which can be equipped to the Keyring slot and will NOT be lost if you are Knocked Out. So long as the appropriate Key is in your inventory or Keyring, you may open locked structures simply by clicking on it. CAUTION: Once Gates are opened, they will remain open until you specifically close them or attach the Store Bought Spring. Attuning a Key to a Lock
WARNING! Attaching a Lock to a structure which is not Attuned to any Key will permanently lock it!
Changing a Lock
Lockable Structures
Attuning a Key to a Another PersonKeys can be copied and Attuned to other pilgrims to allow them to open your locked structures as well. There are several types of Keys which offer some flexibility in the permissions you give.
Tip: Always make a spare Master Copy of Key to keep on an alt (and Attuned to that alt) in case your main character is killed or your Keys are lost or stolen. Otherwise you will not be able to enter your own base or open your own locked containers. |
