About

Any craft that can be done on a Whittler's Bench icon.png Whittler's Bench can also be made using a Carpenter's Bench icon.png Carpenter's Bench. Occasionally, when using a Carpenter's Bench Wood Choppings icon.png Wood Choppings will appear on the ground in front of it.

WARNING! When using a Carpenter's Bench with higher Madness levels you may receive a Timber Terror Fetish icon.png Timber Terror Fetish which will subtract 1 from your Hammer & Nail icon.png Hammer & Nail for each item you craft on it.
WARNING! Using the Planed Board action on a Carpenter's Bench with higher Madness levels may cause you to receive a Moldy Board icon.png Moldy Board instead of a Planed Board.

How to Make Planed and Oiled Boards

  1. Using the Plane Board icon.png Plane Board action and a Carpenter's Bench icon.png Carpenter's Bench plane your Dry Board icon.png Dry Boards. If successful you will create a Planed Board icon.png Planed Board. If unsuccessful you will receive 2x Wood Choppings icon.png Wood Choppings instead. Your success rate can be increased by your Woodworking Artifice Bonus. When creating Planned Boards there is a chance to receive High Notes of Amber Resin icon.png High Notes of Amber Resin. This chance is also increased by your Woodworking Artifice Bonus.
  2. Select a Vessel of at least 2x Liters of Vegetable Oil icon.png Vegetable Oil and right-click it onto an Oiling Trough icon.png Oiling Trough.
  3. Right-click on your Oiling Trough to open it and place up to 8 Planed Boards inside.
  4. In about 2 days the Planed Boards will become either Oiled Board icon.png Oiled Boards or Warped Board icon.png Warped Boards at about a 50/50 chance. Each Board will consume 2x Liters of Vegetable Oil. Warped Boards can be re-planed back into Planed Boards to try again.

Building Structures

Selecting a structure from the build menu or its sub-menus will place a Building Blueprint Sign at the position of the cursor and then clicking a valid building location on the ground will place the sign and open a window prompting the player to deposit the necessary materials and build the structure.

Each material is followed by a series of three numbers.

  • The first indicates how many of that resource are needed but have not been deposited.
  • The second number indicates how many of that resource have been deposited but have not been built into the structure.
  • The third number indicates how many of that resource have been built into the structure.

Players can take their time building structures by depositing and committing resources to the build sign by clicking the "build" button. The character will build as much of the structure as they can with the available resources. They can return with more resources in the future.

Note that if no resources are deposited, the build sign will disappear when the player walks away. If resources are deposited, but the player hasn't built them into the structure, the uncommitted resources will slowly disappear over time. This is to combat players using build signs as cheap and overpowered storage containers they can deposit and retrieve resources from.
