A custom of the natives, it is most popularly ingested via smoking pipe. Smoking tobacco takes the edge off the madness that slowly encroaches the minds of pilgrims. About Tobacco is product of a Tobacco Harvest. Initially 50x Seeds of Tobacco are required when Planting Tobacco. If you don't have access to Seeds of Tobacco for Planting, they can be initially purchased for 500x Silver Pieces from Spuds McArtor in Providence. For an overview of Planting, see Tilled Field. Harvesting Tobacco When Harvesting Tobacco you will also receive Seeds of Tobacco. The number of seeds you receive is based on your Affluence Bonus so it is possible to NOT get enough Seeds of Tobacco to replant from a Harvest. In combination with a Tilled Field at 20% Upkeep, roughly 200-300 Affluence should yield enough Seeds of Tobacco for continual replanting. There are 4 different varieties of Tobacco. The varieties you get when Harvesting depends on the total accumulated Influence of the Red and the Green bars. Successfully growing a Tobacco crop adds to the Blue bar. Tier Tobacco Influence 1 Broad-Leaf Tobacco Total accumulated Influence is less than 100 2 Bright-Leaf Tobacco 100 to 150 total Influence, but with more Red then Green. 2 Shade-Leaf Tobacco 100 to 150 total Influence, but with more Green then Red. 3 Gold-Leaf Tobacco 150+ total Influence, balance does not matter. Tobacco can be dried on a Drying Frame or Hunter's Drying Rack for 48 hours to produce Dry Tobacco Leaves. Shredded Tobacco 12x Dry Tobacco Leaves can be shredded using the Shred Tobacco recipe on a Grindstone or Copper Grinder to produce 3x of the corresponding Shredded Tobacco. Mixing Dry Tobacco Leaves will default to the lowest tier leaf used. Equip your Pipe to your left hand slot. Right-click your equipped Pipe and select "Puff". Each Puff has a CHANCE to reduce your Madness by 1 level. The higher your Madness level and the higher the tier of Tobacco used the higher the chance of dropping a Madness level. Each Puff adds wear to your Pipe.
