Limed hides are crafted from the crafting window, and not by using a bucket filled with milk of lime on a dried hide. You will need a bucket filled with Milk of Lime in your inventory and any dried hide. Each lime consumes 1/4 (250ml) of a bucket, allowing 4 Limed Hides to be crafted per bucket. Rabbits are a very cheap and easy source of leather as their hides can be used.
