Note on butchering dead turkeys: You will either have an option to "Butcher" or "Pluck" a dead turkey which depends on whether the turkey was wild or raised in a coop. There is no way to visually determine if a turkey is wild or farm raised- alive or dead. Butchering farm raised turkeys yield significantly more meat than a wild one - 8 cuts of meat can be obtained from a farm raised turkey while only 2 from a wild one.

About

Turkeys are passive creatures. They do not run away when approached and can be knocked out and placed in the player's inventory, where it will be revealed to be a Hen or a Gobbler. Once in the player's inventory, the turkey must be moved into a Turkey Coop or it will become a Dead Turkey within a few hours.

See Turkey Coop for information on breeding turkeys.

Turkeys raised in a coop may be plucked to create Stuffed Turkey. Turkey Eggs are a component for Farmer's Omelette.

Note on butchering dead turkeys: Right clicking gives an option to "Butcher" or "Pluck" a dead turkey. The option to "Pluck" is available only for farm raised birds. All others are wild caught. There is no way to visually determine if a turkey is wild or farm raised — alive or dead. Butchering farm raised turkeys yields significantly more meat than wild ones — 8 cuts of meat can be obtained from a farm raised turkey while a wild one yields a meager 2 cuts of meat.
