Stone is an item that can be obtained from big rocks (Stone Boulders) lying around on the ground by right-clicking them and selecting Chip Stone.
You will need the Colonial Tradesmanship skill in order to unlock the Chip Stone command.
NOTE: Dross, Flint, Gneiss, Granite, Lime, and Smooth Stone may all substitute for stone in many recipes, so be careful as the game may inadvertently choose one of those items for crafting.
