==How to Make Clay==

# Fill a [[Bucket|Vessel]] with {{i|Potable Water}}.

# Add a 2x {{i|Lime}} to the Water by selecting a Lime from your inventory and right-clicking on your Potable Water to make {{i|Milk of Lime}}.

# Select your {{i|Milk of Lime}} and right-click it on your {{i|Clay Trough}}. A Clay Trough can hold 10 {{i|Bucket}}s (100L) of Milk of Lime.

# With {{i|Any Shovel}} equipped, [[Dig]] the ground to get {{i|Dirt}}, which you will hold over your head. You can carry up to 15 clumps of Dirt.

# With the {{i|Dirt}} over your head right-click the {{i|Clay Trough}} to dump in the Dirt. This will produce 1x {{i|Clay}} for each clump of Dirt you drop in. Each clump of Dirt will consume .5L of Milk of Lime, so a full Clay Trough can produce 200 Clay before needing to be re-filled.

In-Game Text

"Thou spring'st a leak already in thy crown.
A flaw is in thy ill-bak'd vessel found;
Tis hollow, and returns a jarring sound.
Yet thy moist clay is pliant to command.
Unwrought, and easy to the potter's hand:
Now take the mould; now bend thy mind to feel
The first sharp motions of the forming wheel."

-John Dryden, Third Satire of Persius

As the at times harsh nature of the New World transforms and transmutes the young Pilgrim into a man of honor and standing, so the potter shapes and molds the amorphous clay into vases, cups and bowls. Pottery allows you to dig for clay, and to make things from it.
