A boulder differs not just in size and shape, but also in composition. Granite Excavation allows for the unearthing of Granite Boulders from stone quarries.

Once the Quarrying Skill has be learned you can Dig Stone Boulders from a Quarry or Mountain. With the Granite Excavation Skill learned there is a chance to get a Granite Boulders instead when Digging on Quarries. This chance is based off your Mines & Mountains Proficiency. Learning Ambitious Excavation will help you Dig out Boulders faster and increases the chance to get larger Lime Boulders from Lime Pits.
