You can dig up a lime boulder from special lime tiles once you learn the Quarrying skill (You don't even need to have a shovel equipped).
Then you can drop the boulder on the ground and use Chip Stone command from the right-click menu to extract between 5 and 100 pieces of Lime from it.
You have a chance to find some Grubs or Beetles, when you lift it.
