The Clay Pot can be fired in a fireplace early on, which makes it easier to boil mushrooms to avoid the debuff. There is a risk of cracking when firing in a fireplace. This will leave clay shards which can be combined with more clay to form another Unburnt Clay Pot.
The pot holds 5 litres of water. It is also possible to create Tanning Fluid by boiling Birch Bark in the pot.
