The Clay Pot can be fired in a fireplace early on, which makes it easier to boil mushrooms to avoid the debuff. There is a risk of cracking when firing in a fireplace. This will leave clay shards which can be combined with more clay to form another Unburnt Clay Pot.
It is also possible to create Tanning Fluid by boiling Birch Bark in the pot. The pot holds 5 litres of water.
