About

The Slingshot is the first Ranged Weapon available in the game. Although the Plant Fibres required in its construction can be troublesome to obtain, it is a necessary tool for hunting, since it allows you to initiate combat without the animal running away.

The Slingshot uses stones as ammunition. A stone of any kind must be in your inventory in order to fire the Slingshot.

  • Caution: The Slingshot will happily fire Smooth Stones, Lime, and Flint at your target, so be careful that you don't end up shooting valuable stones.

To Fire a Slingshot, you must first select the Shoot command from the Combat->Attack menu. Clicking with your mouse-cursor will aim the shot at wherever you clicked. Your character will grasp the slingshot in their Left hand while pulling back with their Right. The right-hand will shift around a bit while "taking aim", but this should not be confused with swinging a Sling (as opposed to a Slingshot) around in the air with your Right hand, since Slings are not in the game.

When the shot is fired, a white line will trace it's trajectory to the target, and the fist-sized rock you just hurled will do a trivial amount of damage and serve only to make the creature angry. Be prepared to engage in combat now, since a homicidal bunny rabbit (Or whatever you attacked) will be barreling down at you, thirsting for blood. if you fired from maximum range, you should have time to perform a Stomp, but it's safer to be ready with a more direct attack instead, like Uppercut or Thrust.

Notes

  • A Slingshot MUST be equipped to the Left Hand.
  • Slingshot damage seems to be around 0.5*sqrt(YB/10).

More data is needed to determine what the Damage Constant is, and if any other factors are involved.--Hans Lemurson (talk) 00:08, 9 March 2013 (CST)
