About

WARNING: Players who are at max disease will begin taking bile dmg from symptoms. Players who KO to a disease while it is max will Permanently die.

There is now a worse overall chance you will be cured for every wrong cure you take.

There are four diseases you can catch in Salem either from a Rat, or from an infected dead or alive Pilgrim coughing nearby. The diseases are:

Maroon Fever, an imbalance of the Blood Humor, is characterized by a splitting Headache. The disease can be cured by applying a Leech to the shirt slot of your equipment and letting it drain some blood.

Frontier Flux, an imbalance of the Phlegm Humor, is characterized by Vomiting. The disease can be cured by taking a dose of Columbine Paste.

Big Pox, an imbalance of the Yellow Bile Humor, is characterized by excessive Coughing. The disease can be cured by drinking Willowbark Tonic.

Land Legs, an imbalance of the Black Bile Humor, is characterized by extreme Dizziness. The disease can be cured by a dose of Smelling Salts.

All four diseases will exhibit all four symptoms randomly, but one will be more common than the others. In the beginning, it is difficult to tell which disease has actually been contracted because of this. Keep in mind that it can take more than one dose to actually cure a disease. As time passes, the disease will become more and more serious, the symptoms occurring more frequently. The worse the disease gets, though, the easier it is to figure out which symptom is the most common and therefore find the correct cure. Be careful, as JC has stated that taking the wrong medicine will lower the chance of the right medicine curing the disease! Once the disease bar is full, you will be dealt permanent humour damage and once a humour reaches 0, you permanently die.

Diseased bodies of dead players still have a chance to infect players who get too close to them.

Players may not enter the Providence Church if they have a disease.

It is possible to avoid infection in most cases and not have to worry about curing Disease. Rat bites can cause disease, but as rats only live in the Darkness, they can be easily avoided by most players. The Plague Doctor's Masque can greatly reduce risk of infection from other Pilgrims. Only the Coughing symptom is actually contagious and the mask purifies the bad air. Disease can also be contracted from the Cozy Blanket, a 'gift' from the developers, one to each player. They are sometimes gifted to unsuspecting newbies.
