About

Corn (properly called Maize) is a crop whose seeds currently can only be purchased from other players. The corn on all servers has its origin in Colonial Relief Packages received by players on Thanksgiving 2012.

Like Pumpkins, Corn has multiple stages in which it can be harvested, however not all of them yield seeds. If harvested early, you will receive Baby Corn, which is useful in a few recipes or as Any Plant.

Mature Corn is larger and lusher than immature, and has visible ears growing on the stalks. Unlike cereals, harvesting corn gives you corn seeds directly (the graphic shows a shucked ear of corn), and does not need to be threshed. Corn can be milled to Corn Meal at a Windmill. There are no recipes currently that use Corn Meal by itself, so be aware that you may need to keep some unmilled Corn in reserve as an ingredient, or have a source of Oil or Salt.

When milled, 1 unit of Corn yields 0.04 kg of Corn Meal. 50 seeds (the yield from a 100% plenty field) will thus give you 2.00 kg. Seeds can be stacked up to 100.

Corn may also be pressed to yield Corn Oil which is a specific requirement in some recipes, but will also serve whenever a generic vegetable oil is required.

Tiers

Like other crops, Corn has tiers based on the influence levels of the field. The relevant influences for Corn are Red (#1) and Blue (#3). Like Cereal, corn adds Green (#2) influence to a field.
