GemstonesAny Raw Gem can be cut into a Gemstone using a Gemcutter's Wheel with the success determined by the Hardness of the Raw Gem. The Carats of the Raw Gem and the complexity of the cut will give a bonus to the Cut Gem's Affluence, however the more complex the cut the more Hardness is added at the time of the cut. An unsuccessful Cut will destroy your Raw Gem and replace it with 1-3x Gem Shards and 1x Fractured Gemstone.
Gem HardnessAny Raw Gems you find while Sifting will have a Hardness which relates to its odds of successfully being cut on a Gemcutter's Wheel - the Harder the Raw Gem, the less chance of success. Hardness is determined at the time of Sifting based on a your Mines & Mountains Proficiency and chance. Additionally, each different Gem Cut will add a fixed amount of Hardness at the time of cutting. |
