About
Music is a fun little mechanic for altering Biomes in Salem.
Pilgrims may play musical instruments at the cost of inspiration. Nature will adapt and change based on the type of music being played nearby.
To play an instrument, a player must unlock the Musician skill, which will give the player access to the different notes:
- Play A
- Play A Sharp
- Play B
- Play C
- Play C Sharp
- Play D
- Play D Sharp
- Play E
- Play F
- Play F Sharp
- Play G
- Play G Sharp
Each instrument will change the area around you to a different specific Biome. Not all instruments will do this - only those found in the Mystery Music Box which includes:
- Banjo -- Changes area around you to Greenwood Biome
- Fife -- Changes area around you to Grassland Biome.
- Glockenspiel
- Harp -- Changes area around you to Autumnal Biome.
- Skin Flute -- Changes area around you to Woodland Biome.
- Snare Drum
- Viola -- Changes area around you to Shrub Biome.
- Wardrum
Currently the Trumpet and the Cowbell is the only instruments that will not alter biomes, however the Aeolian skill is also required for any of the Mystery Music Box instruments to change biomes. Without Aeolian the instrument can still be played but the biomes around will not change.
Insanity
Playing any instrument will calm your Insanity.
Playing any of the Mystery Music Box instruments with the Aeolian skill will also calm the Insanity in the surrounding players.
