En Garde! is a combat stance which allows you to Parry. To use En Garde!, you must have a sword equipped in your Right hand.
Currently, En Garde! serves only to allow you to Parry, and gives no other benefit. This, coupled with the fact that it is mutually exclusive with Run means that you will sacrifice your combat maneuverability to use it.
