Game Development: Brave New World

Pilgrims,

As has been announced in various channels, we have tonight wiped the Plymouth server clean, and generated a new map. Let me first of all thank you for your kind assistance in the development of Salem over these past months. I hope you have enjoyed it as much as we have. Thank you.

This reset brings a few changes, some more important than others. The first, and most important change, is that we will be migrating away from the Paradox forums and account structures, and set up a platform of our own. In the future, you will find Salem at:

[1]

Where you will also find links to the brand new forum we have established for the purpose. The web platform is very bare bones at the moment, but it should be fully functional.

Important: TRANSFER YOUR ACCOUNT!

In order to keep using your present account information you need to "Transfer old Paradox account" over at login.salemgame.com. This will set up a new account on our servers which is effectively a copy of your Paradox account. (All alpha accounts will however work as are). You need only do this once, and thereafter you should be able to login using the account.

Silver now possible to buy

Another important thing to note is that it will, after this reset, be possible to purchase ingame silver using real world currency. You will find a convenient button in the game client should you wish to do so. Any silver purchased can be found in and withdrawn from your account in the Boston bank.

Game Changes

There is now a variance penalty to studying inspirationals of the same type over and over again. If you do so, your learning ability will be reduced, and modify any Learning points you acquire from such inspirationals. You can restore your learning ability by studying a type of inspirational that you haven't studied before since your last level up. Increasing a proficiency or buying a skill (leveling up) will reset the learning ability.

The map has been gifted with a few new natural objects.

If all goes according to plan this reset should be the last full reset we do on Salem. The present Beta phase is referred to internally by us as "closed commercial beta", and we aim to gradually transition it to "open beta", as soon as we have support for multiple servers -- our present work in progress -- required so as to be able accomodate the expected influx of users that that should bring.

After that, we should be able to dedicate ourselves more fully to bringing you new industries, monsters, late-game content and other nice things.

Thank you all players for your patience with us,

Thanks to the mods and admins here at the Paradox forums for their patience with us and our players,

We hope to see you all over at the new forums, and in the New World.

Long live the King!

Yours truly,

/Björn, Jorb, Beanieman, Brother Bean, &c&c.
