comments

Hi, i've noticed you not knowning how to "sign" your comments...
If you type --~~~~, mind the 4 tildes at end, then the software will replace those 4 tildes with your signature and timestamp.
See also Help:Signature as linked-to in blue box above, for how signatures work.
This way everyone will know who posted what and when, which is invaluable to be able to follow discussions properly.
Thanks a lot :)

If I missed it since my first comment (when I didn't know the code) it was not intentional. Will use the one with timestamp from now though as you requested. --Bluestone 22:35, 13 July 2012 (CDT)

Changing queries

Hi, if you don't know why queries are done the way they are then pls don't change them.
If you see an entry missing on the terrain pages, it is because the object (animal in this case), doesn't have the proper data for its infobox...
Thank you...06:52, 3 August 2012 (CDT)

You forgot to sign your comment properly :P There is no way to tell which pages have specific rules on them. I see snakes in badlands so I add snakes to the badlands page. If there is something I need to know about how to do it then you can damn well explain it or point to the page that explains it. I don't know what you mean by query in this case so you will have to elaborate (ie, how to tell if a section cannot be edited manually)

If a page is entirely auto generated then protect it FFS. Bluestone 16:27, 3 August 2012 (CDT)

Okay so I added badlands to the rattler page and it showed on the badlands page in the lower section. About still says no creatures spawn there which I had changed in my first edit so I don't know why you undid it. Perhaps you should slow done the rollbacks and check the edits first... Bluestone 16:30, 3 August 2012 (CDT)

Sometimes its counter productive to protect certain pages, in this case User:Jord was doing those pages...
As a general rule; If you don't understand some code, then don't edit there, because sometimes pages/sections etc use code to generate things.
Don't get upset when you make a mistake that you're not aware of and it gets "rolled back", its a 1 click action for me, that's why i used it.
I don't use "rollback" that often, but if im in a hurry and i see a mistake thats been done by 1 person over several edits, it just takes too much efforts.
(And you can explain your feelings without using words like FFS, it brings down the willingness of the reader in a bad way real fast)

It looked nothing like code therefore I had no idea it was not a manually editable section. That was my issue with it, there was no way for me to know not to touch it manually. I know about that particular one now but I have no idea what else I cannot touch without breaking something and that deters me from trying to contribute. Bluestone 22:42, 3 August 2012 (CDT)
I do like that things are being set up to automatically fill in the information, it just needs to be more obvious that is what is happening, perhaps commented out notes in the corresponding automatic sections. May seem like a lot of work to add the comments at first but it will bring down future rollbacks and mistakes from people just trying to help. Bluestone 22:44, 3 August 2012 (CDT)
Everytime you see some block that is between {{ and }}, you will know that it is code that will do something and is not plain text.
Its responsibility of editors to get familiar with MediaWiki, see icon on bottom right of pages, when they edit wiki pages.
My ISP is having pms so im calling it the night, nn :)

New Wiki Team

Welcome to the wiki team :D Milonti 12:51, 10 August 2012 (CDT)

Thank you! Expect me to start slow and build up as I get my head around existing methods or until we come up with new better methods. Bluestone 16:35, 10 August 2012 (CDT)
How do I make a cool little sig thing like everyone else? XDmilonti 20:27, 12 August 2012 (CDT)

I figured out my problem, needed to learn CSS more XD milonti 12:38, 13 August 2012 (CDT)

I stole yr codez for my signature and modified them without attribution. Sabinati 17:26, 13 August 2012 (CDT)

Oh noes! Whatever shall I do? ?!FREAKED OUT?! lolololol Bluestone 17:28, 13 August 2012 (CDT)

Modular

I love seeing your use of my vocabulary on the template pages XD milonti 08:16, 17 August 2012 (CDT)

Yes, credit where credit is due, going modular was definitely your idea! Do the templates work for you? ie happy with them? Bluestone 15:56, 17 August 2012 (CDT)

Looks good so far, just wondering why there is a separate template for InspirationalFood rather than just stacking the Inspirational and Food templates similar to how Foraged/Crafted stacks with Inspirational/Food? Sabinati 16:23, 17 August 2012 (CDT)

I played around with it for a while on my local wiki and could not get them to combine into one box when both present and still work independantly without screwing up any content that followed (ie ==About==). Tried everything I could find on the Mediawiki and Semantic Mediawiki help pages and nothing seemed to work. I do agree though, it would have been better. Bluestone 16:27, 17 August 2012 (CDT)

Can you get Skill icons to show up in the skills required section for crafts? Ease of information recognition and all that. If it looks bad we can just take it back out. milonti 09:57, 27 August 2012 (CDT)

Done. Bluestone 17:12, 27 August 2012 (CDT)

Sidebar stuff

Moved some stuff around on the sidebar MediaWiki:Sidebar feel free to continue to improve it. still a bit of a mess and random crap Sabinati 16:36, 17 August 2012 (CDT)

New Response

Hey bluestone I provided a response. Feel free to message me with any questions, sorry for the delay.

Structure Template

Is there a way to set different "phases" of a structure needing requiring different materials? Like on a Stone Hedge is there a way to indicate materials for the start post, corner post, gate, etc. Right now I only have the start post up there. milonti 07:52, 20 August 2012 (CDT)

We might need a separate "Walls" template. Might only be split-rail and stone hedge atm but there are more coming and they will all have segments, corners and gates.Bluestone 15:31, 20 August 2012 (CDT)
Is there anything else that gets built in a similar fashion? Trimoon somehow did it using the same sort of explosion template you're using for stuff. It might be possible to work it in there.milonti 15:58, 20 August 2012 (CDT)
Starts getting a bit too complex for me adding more layers to that lol. But I can try it on my local wiki. If I get something working I will transfer it here. Bluestone 17:13, 27 August 2012 (CDT)

What to do with Any Raw Meat Cut, Any Mushroom, Filets of Any Fish and etc? --Some Shroom 11:22, 2 September 2012 (CDT)

Either the foraged or crafted templates work stand-alone when you put |} after it. Examples at bottom of page: http://salemwiki.info/index.php/Any_Raw_Meat_Cut . If those don't seem right we can try come up with a new template. Bluestone 14:50, 2 September 2012 (CDT)

Inspirationals chart

http://salemwiki.info/index.php/User:Sabinati/InspChart I would like to add the info for the items required, is it possible? inspired by http://nsuidara.pl/Salem/ Sabinati 23:13, 20 August 2012 (CDT)

Not sure, I am learning all this semantic wiki stuff and how to format results as I go. Personally I think it would be too much information in one place. Bluestone 00:33, 21 August 2012 (CDT)
You had the property wrong. Its just Requires not Objects required. Bluestone 00:36, 21 August 2012 (CDT)
