Bones are found, generally on the ground, after Butchering any dead Wild or Domesticated animal, however, Darkness creatures will have Darkenbones instead.
Bonemeal is made by grinding Any Bones, such as Bones or Fish Skeleton on a Grindstone or a Copper Grinder. Grinding a Darkenbone will instead create Darkenbonemeal. 1x Bone will make 1.00kg of Bonemeal.
